Now that you have one of the back tattoos so many people long for, you will want to make sure you understand how to care for it.
Give back tattoos time to get air and breathe. Your body will naturally heal the skin that has been tattooed. Try to leave it as open as possible for at least the first few days allowing it to have air flow on it at least several times a day.
If you have to go to work and dress appropriately, you will need to cover it with a clean sterile gauze secured with medical tape on the edges only. Never use a liquid bandage or things that will stick to any of your back tattoos.
Back tattoos have to scab over so that it can heal properly. Let it scab naturally with no scratching or picking at it. You don’t want to have scars on your new back tattoos. Just let the natural healing process occur so that you can have the best tattoo possible.
Try to avoid direct sunlight and swimming if at all possible until the tattoo heals completely. You don’t want your back tattoos to fade with the sun or chlorine in the pool. If you swim in a creek or pond you may be opening yourself up for an infection from unwanted things in the water so just stay out of water all together until it gets properly healed.
Back tattoos should be inked when it’s colder outside so there is no temptation of soaking up the sun or taking a refreshing dip on a hot summer day. Many summer activities can affect the way back tattoos heal making the winter months the perfect opportunity.
